Mass times changed from 1st September 2018 in the Cathedral  Masses will now be at 9.30am and 11.30am.  Saturday vigil at 7.30pm as normal.

Masses this week in St. Clare’s Chapel only on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th October 2018 at 7.30pm.

Youth Ministry

John Paul 2 Awards: if you are in transition or 5th year in school you can now take part in this award.

If you are in secondary school you could join the youth readers group, join the choir or become a senior server.

The Children’s Remembrance Event
This now annual event will take place in St. Joseph’s Church, Park Street, Monaghan on Sunday 21st October at 2.30pm. An invitation is extended to families, siblings and anyone affected by loss during pregnancy or throughout the childhood years. (Please note the change of day and venue).

 

Baptism Preparation Courses  –  Please note that Baptism Preparation Classes will be held at 8pm in the Cathedral Conference Room on the last Wednesday of each month.  Places limited so early booking advised to Presbytery, Farnham St., Cavan   between 9.30am – 2pm Tuesday – Friday.

VIGIL  OF  REPARATION to the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary takes place every 1st Friday of each month in St. Clare’s Adoration Chapel commencing at 8.30pm. Confessions are available on the night with rosaries and the divine mercy chaplet.  All are welcome even for a short time.

Praying the Gospel  Lectio Divina Group continues the study of the Sunday gospel on Tuesdays, after 10am Mass in the Cathedral Conference Room.

JOHN MAIN  PRAYER  GROUP  meet in Holy Rosary Convent every Wednesday at 7.30pm

 

Pastoral Centre Upcoming Events

Night Vigil on Friday 19th October from 7pm – 10pm. A Family Tree Healing Mass will be celebrated by Fr Oliver Devine on Friday 26th October with Confessions from 6.45pm. All welcome. Enquiries: 087 2549960

Exploring Sunday Mass Readings – Fr. Eamonn Bredin will facilitate a study group for the following Sunday’s readings on Thursdays 7:30pm to 9:30pm Cost: €5 per night.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the organising of the Mass for the 150th Celebrations of St. Brigid’s Church, Killygarry and with the refreshments afterwards. It was wonderful to see the great attendance at the event last weekend.

The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in Cavan General Hospital.  They are looking for volunteers from all over Co. Cavan to pick local patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up again when they are finished their treatment and bring them home.  The service is free to the patient and all drivers expenses are paid.  Telephone Rebecca on 01 2316 642 or email transport@irishcancer.ie   There are many patients who cannot get to their treatments for a number of reasons:
    1. Patients are living on their own with little or no immediate family support
    2. The patients family is not in the immediate vicinity
    3. The patients family cannot take time off work to bring them to and from the hospital (when the recession really hit, people became afraid of taking time off work)
    4. Patients are elderly and cannot drive (and their spouse cannot drive)
    5. The treatment is too aggressive and the patient has been advised not to drive
 Alzheimer Society Café  ” Forget me not café”, organised by Cavan Alzheimer Society  is open the last Wednesday of every month in the Day Centre in Castlemanor Nursing Home, Drumalee, Cavan from 11am till 12.30pm. All people suffering from Alzheimer’s their families & carer’s are all very welcome. For more information contact Carole at 087 2240963.  

Lectio Divina Group  Everyone welcome to come to the Conference Room at the back of the Cathedral every Tuesday after the 10am Mass to study Sunday’s Gospel.

During Lent Daily Masses will be in St. Clare’s at 7.30am and 1.05pm & Cathedral at 10am, Butlersbridge on Wednesday at 7.30pm & in Killygarry on Friday at 7.30pm

 

Vigil of Reparation to the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary every First Friday.  Next vigil is Friday 2nd February in St Clare’s, 8pm – 12 midnight.  Confessions available for the First Friday.

The Backpack Programme  As you may know, we ran three Backpack Summer Camps in the Kilmore Diocese across three locations: Cavan, Ballinamore and Manorhamilton.  These camps were a great success and we are beginning weekly parish groups in these areas.  The Cavan Parish group meets in Cavan Town on Friday evenings at 6pm in the Tullacmongan Resource Centre.  If you know any teens who would be interested in attending please call 083 4877325 for further details.

Month’s Memory Mass  are available for families who have lost a loved one on Friday evenings at 8.30pm in St Clare’s, Killygarry or Butlersbridge churches.   You can also have your Month’s Memory Mass included at  weekend Mass in  Cathedral 7.30pm / 11.30am  Killygarry-10am  Butlersbridge -10.30am  St Clare’s – 9am      Resource Centre – 12noon
